Gemini New Moon today

Image: Chen Yongle

Sometimes, the new moon can feel stiller, more interiorized or sullen, and getting ready for fresh starts with right preparation or clearing.

Full Moons more for hog-wild, weird mischief, and whoopie.

Regardless of their Zodiac sign, these energies and qualities apply to those respective lunar phases, in my experience.

No doubt about it though, any child born today will have an active mental body and an agile curiosity characteristic of the Mercurial Gemini influence,
along with whatever a conjunction of the Sun and Moon bring -- a fusing of the core self and emotional body.

Experience of that moment.

"If you remember nothing else, always remember this one great secret of spiritual practice: we don't have to feel any particular way. We don't have to have special experiences, nor do we have to be any particular way. With whatever arises, whether it's pleasing or not, try to remember that all we can do is experience and work with whatever our life is right now. No matter what life is and no matter how we feel about it, all that matters in practice is whether we can honestly acknowledge what is going on, and then stay present with the physical experience of that moment."

Neuer Frühling

Neuer Frühling

Unterm weißen Baume sitzend,
Hörst du fern die Winde schrillen,
Siehst, wie oben stumme Wolken
Sich in Nebeldecken hüllen;

Siehst, wie unten ausgestorben
Wald und Flur, wie kahl geschoren; -
Um dich Winter, in dir Winter,
Und dein Herz ist eingefroren.

Plötzlich fallen auf dich nieder
Weiße Flocken, und verdrossen
Meinst du schon, mit Schneegestöber
Hab der Baum dich übergossen.

Doch es ist kein Schneegestöber,
Merkst es bald mit freudgem Schrecken;
Duftge Frühlingsblüten sind es,
Die dich necken und bedecken.

Welch ein schauersüßer Zauber!
Winter wandelt sich in Maie,
Schnee verwandelt sich in Blüten,
Und dein Herz es liebt aufs neue.

"Water Lilies," 1895 by Isaac Levitan

"Everywhere transience is plunging into the depths of Being… It is our task to imprint this temporary, perishable earth into ourselves so deeply, so painfully and passionately, that its essence can rise again, “invisibly,” inside us. We are the bees of the invisible. We wildly collect the honey of the visible, to store it in the great golden hive of the invisible."

Rainer Maria Rilke, writing to his Polish translator about writing the "Duino Elegies."

What More Enlightenment Do You Want

The Antique Vase by Milt Kobayashi

"When you don’t have obsession,
When you don’t have hang-ups,
when you don’t have inhibition,
When you are not afraid,
You will be breaking certain rules.
When you are not afraid
You will not fulfill somebody’s expectations.
What more enlightenment do you want.

That’s it."

"The great lesson from the true mystics, from the zen monks, from the humanistic and transpersonal psychologists, is that the sacred is in the ordinary, that it is to be found in one’s daily life, in one’s neighbors, friends, and family, in one’s own back yard. This lesson can be easily lost. To be looking elsewhere for miracles is to me a sure sign of ignorance that everything is miraculous."

What is a blessing?

Art : Sandra Bierman

"What is a blessing?
A blessing is a circle of light drawn around a person to protect, heal and strengthen.” ...“It is a gracious invocation where the human heart pleads with the divine heart. When a blessing is invoked, a window opens in eternal time.”

Prayer for taking adverse conditions onto the path

"If being sick is best, please make me ill;
If being cured is best, please restore my health;
If being dead is best, please make me die;
If long life is best, please prolong my life;
If shorter life is best, please shorten my life.
May all enjoy the fortune of enlightenment."

~ prayer for taking adverse conditions onto the path, in MIND TRAINING: THE GREAT COLLECTION, translated by Thupten Jinpa (2006)

Happy New Year to everyone

Francisco de Zurbarán, Allegory of Charity (detail), c. 1655

"We must look at ourselves over and over again in order to learn to love,
to discover what has kept our hearts closed, and what it means to allow our hearts to open."

Life is a journey

Art : Josh Separzadeh

Life is a journey

Life is a journey.
We all have to travel alone.
Nobody would be in our journey.
The journey is everlasting.
The ups and downs would be there.
Feeling low and high would keep on,
But this is the ordeal of our life.
We have to be very bold and strong.
The journey is full of joys and sorrows.
The journey would appear empty and lonely,
But we have to move ahead not back.
The journey would be boring and tedious.
When we just get through the journey,
Then the real taste of life we come to know.
We forget all our troubles and obstacles.
The is the journey which we ever knew.

La vie en rose

La vie en rose

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose

When you kiss me heaven sighs
And tho I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose

When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom

And when you speak...angels sing from above
Everyday words seem...to turn into love songs

Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

And life will always be.

Self Portrait

It doesn't interest me if there is one God
or many gods.
I want to know if you belong or feel
If you know despair or can see it in others.
I want to know
if you are prepared to live in the world
with its harsh need
to change you. If you can look back
with firm eyes
saying this is where I stand. I want to know
if you know
how to melt into that fierce heat of living
falling toward
the center of your longing. I want to know
if you are willing
to live, day by day, with the consequence of love
and the bitter
unwanted passion of your sure defeat.

I have heard, in that fierce embrace, even
the gods speak of God.

ist Heimat

sagt man

doch was

nützt die Erde

wenn man in sich

nicht Zuhause ist ...

Du bist

Du bist
wie ein Baum,
an dem ich mich
festhalten kann, wenn
der Wind mir ins Gesicht
bläst. Deine grünen Blätter
spenden mir Schatten am Tag
und in der Nacht sehe ich die
Sterne durch Deine Äste.
Ich umarme Dich
in Dir
Angelehnt an Dich bin ich voller Zuversicht.

Feel You

When you feel in your innermost being
that you will achieve what you set out to do,
you open the way for miracles.
The dreams you choose to believe in come to be.

Choose to believe something good can happen.
Expecting it to happen energizes your goal
and actually gives it momentum.
What you expect to happen,

Rivers of Belief

The Lady Of Shalott - Waterhouse

Rivers of Belief

Take me back to the rivers of belief
Take me back to the rivers of belief
my friend

I look inside my heart
I look inside my soul
I promise you
I will return

I look inside my soul
I promise you
I will return

And when the Lamb
opened the seventh seal
silence covered the sky

Take me back to the rivers of belief
Take me back to the rivers of belief
my friend

I look inside my heart
I look inside my soul
I'm reaching out for you
Lets hope one day
We'll rest in peace on my rivers of belief

Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them ?

- Abraham Lincoln

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

We may not always realize
That everything we do,
Affects not only our lives
But touches others, too!
For a little bit of thoughtfulness
That shows someone you care,
Creates a ray of sunshine
For both of you to share.
Yes, every time you offer
someone a helping hand ...
Every time you show a friend
you care and understand...
Every time you have
a kind and gentle word to give ...
You help someone find beauty
in this precious life we live.
For happiness brings happiness
And loving ways bring love;
And Giving is the treasure
That contentment is made of.

Thank you for all the love you have all shown me...

Blessed to see.

"Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where others see nothing."
-  Camille Pissaro

... this one reminds me of a very precious day with our father. We were walking along the banks of Twin Creek one sunny afternoon, the sunlight was glistening brightly off the ripples in the water, throwing up little sparkles of light. I said, "Dad, if every one of those gleams was a diamond, we would be rich." He smiled down at me and said, "They are, and we are."

This is not my own story, be blessed the one who has this father....

silent garden

Leonora Carrington

“We went down into the silent garden.
Dawn is the time when nothing breathes, the hour of silence. Everything is transfixed, only the light moves.”

British-born Mexican artist, surrealist painter and novelist who lived her life in Mexico.

If what you are about to say is not more beautiful than silence… then don’t speak

Great truths are taught through silence

Silence can be a real test if you don’t know how to observe it.

Silence allows us to maintain within us, a vital influx that useless words waste away

The effort you used to repress each useless word, strengthens you

Be still…

Desperately Wanting To Wake Up

So much information out there

It is hard to focus

But there are some tell tale signs of awakening…

Feelings of deep inner sadness for no apparent reason. They say you are releasing your past (this lifetime and others) and this causes the feeling of sadness. Literally… pieces, parts… “aspects” of YOU are being released. Say, “good bye,” I love you. You have served me well. I no longer need you.”

A deep longing to go Home. You may experience a deep and overwhelming desire to leave the planet and return to Home. This is not a “suicidal” feeling. It is not based in anger or frustration. You don’t want to make a big deal of it. Its just that there is a quiet part of you that wants to go Home. The root cause for this is quite simple……You are ready to begin a new lifetime while still in this physical body.

This sooooo me right now.

I keep thinking… “Yeah I’ve served my purpose here”

Sudden change in job or career. A very common symptom and one I have found myself having to deal with. As you change, things around you will change as well. Don’t worry about finding the “perfect” job or career right now. You’re in transition and you may make several job changes before you settle into one that fits your passion. But what is my passion? That leads me to the next symptom.

Loss of passion. You may feel totally dis-impassioned, with little or no desire to do anything. That’s OK, and it’s just part of the process. Take this time to “do no-thing.” Don’t fight yourself on this. It’s similar to rebooting a computer. You need to shut down for a brief period of time in order to load the sophisticated new software.

I casually keep in mind the time of day 11:11. When I happen to catch it, I say to myself… “DNA upgrade”. I visualize being upgraded to a new and improved species of human being. If nothing else its a positive affirmation.

Body aches and pains, especially in the neck, shoulder and back. This is the result of intense changes in your DNA upgrade. More important, your energetic body, is being upgraded and made new. I believe aging, dis-ease, and limitations are freed within this awakening.

There are more symptoms like sleep changes, waking up in the middle of the night. Intense dreams, lots of self talk, feeling lonely even with people all around you. Be happy when you see them and feel them, because you are on the right path.

Oh and pay attention to when you actually feel joy… do whatever it is more and more joy will come in all areas… I believe…

Can I Be at Peace?

Eggscapism (2011)
Duy Huynh

There is a Sufi teaching story about a caged bird.

The bird was well looked after by her owner, fed and talked to, and her cage was kept by an open window so she could see the wonderful world outside. But still she was caged. She could see other birds flying free. She could see interesting things happening. Her wings twitched because she longed so to join the world.
One day, the owner left both the cage door and the window open, and went to work for the day. The bird quicky hopped out of her cage and onto the window ledge. She could see so much!  She could see mountains and a lake, birds cavorting, humans hugging on the street below.  So much amazing life!
But the bird could not make herself move. She just stayed on the ledge, wondering what to do. She stayed and stayed and stayed. She couldn’t make her wings take flight. The bird was still there when her owner came home from work. So he put the bird back in her cage. And there she stayed.

Whatever comes to us in dreams, even when the dreams are terrifying, we know that this is our personal material and that it is time to deal with it, we’ll discover that, when we find the will to follow where our dreams lead, we are given strength and the help we need to make our way through. As shamans say, the spirits like this work, and Power never gives us more than we can handle.

- Robert Moss

Invictus by William Ernest Henley. The story behind the poem is also impressive: Henley contracted tuberculosis of the bone when he was 13. At age 17, physicians had to amputate one of his legs.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Friendship Poem

I can not change your past or your future.
But when you need me , I'll be there.

I can not help you stumble .
I can only offer my hand
for subjects and you do not fall .

Your joys, your success and your successes are not mine.
But honestly I enjoy when I see you happy.

I do not judge the decisions you make in life.
I limit myself to lean on,
to encourage you and to help you if you ask me .

I can not keep you away from me.
But I can wish you the best
and wait for your return.

I can not trazarte limits
within which you should act,
but I offer you the space to grow.

I can not help your suffering
where any penalty breaks your heart,
but I can mourn with you
and pick up the pieces to assemble it again.

I can not tell you who you are or who you should be.
I can only love you as you are and be your friend.

Creativity and Fear

I live a creative life, and you can’t be creative without being vulnerable. I believe that Creativity and Fear are basically conjoined twins; they share all the same major organs, and cannot be separated, one from the other, without killing them both. And you don’t want to murder Creativity just to destroy Fear! You must accept that Creativity cannot walk even one step forward except by marching side-by-side with its attached sibling of Fear.

So here’s my magical thinking — I decide every day that I love Creativity enough to accept that Fear will always come with it. And I talk to Fear all the time, speaking to it with love and respect, saying to it: “I know that you are Fear, and that your job is to be afraid. And you do your job really well! I will never ask you to leave me alone or to be silent, because you have a right to speak your own voice, and I know that you will never leave me alone or be silent, anyhow. But I need you to understand that I will always choose Creativity over you.

Oh storyteller tell us a story
Make it a tale
Tell me about the people of old
Tell me about 1001 Nights
And about Lunja the daughter of the Ghoul
And about the son of the Sultan

I'm about to tell a story
Take us far from this world
I'm about to tell a story
Everyone of us has a story in his heart

Narrate and forget we're adults
In your mind we're young
Tell us about heaven and hell
About the bird that never flew in his life
Help us understand the meaning of the world

Oh storyteller, tell it just as they told you
Don't add anything, don't leave anything out
We could see into your mind
Narrate to make us forget this time
Leave us in the world of once upon a time
